WOW-The article that was in my head long before the words came out of my mouth or hers........she couldn't have said it any better than this--Thank you J* you've inspired me once again.
"The main difference was that I wanted to create a boutique business structure (a small company that offers highly specialized services or products) instead of a mom-and-pop business structure (a company that offers a multitude of services or products). The sooner I began to focus on creating a boutique, the faster I'd be known for that very thing. As I photographed families, my name began to circulate in mommy circles and referrals started pouring in, but it built a structure for a business I didn't want. Instead, I chose to focus exclusively on wedding photography and stopped accepting those commissions. I'm not saying this should be the path for everyone, but since I knew outright I wanted to be know as a wedding photographer and a wedding photographer only, I immediately made the long-term decision. While thankful for the opportunities to shoot all different areas.....I knew that I couldn't move where I ultimately wanted to go if my mind & time were divided".--JASMINE STAR
She said it just as I would only better. I'm not looking to be a famous international photographer like Jasmine, but I do admire her strength and wisdom in the world of photography. My goal is to have quality over quantity. I'd rather shoot 5-10 amazing weddings a year then 30+ "lackluster" sessions. I'd rather be able to volunteer in my children's class, cook a homemade meal for my family or turn away work to spend more time with my family & close friends. There comes a time when you must ponder, decide and move forward........I've thought long and hard for the last several months and made almost all the changes to start my 2012 off in the direction I wanted to reach these goals, this is just one more step toward my goal! :)
Thanks for all the continued support! I really feel grateful to have some truly amazing clients I can call friends! I have learned so much and will continue to do so over the years to come. I have each one of you to thank for allowing me to be a small part of your life to capture your intimate family time, your precious babies & children growing & developing into their own and on top of that getting to explore all different avenues of photography. You've allowed me to practice, fail and succeed through out the the years. You've either been there since the start or been sent by referral, we've either met because of mutual interests or friends, either way I can honestly say I'm so blessed to have come this far, learn and figure out what works best for me and where I want to be going...... so I thank you, because I couldn't have done it with out ya! Thanks to all my clients, friends and family! I love you lots and your wonderful support for "Bella Bean" will always be treasured.
