Had a wonderful time laughing and shooting this sweet couple! Jacqueline and Chris were perfect for this photo session set up a the Hyatt Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale. A perfect romantic night away, a quiet serenade Italian themed gondola ride to top the night off. It was beautiful.

Holiday Pass

Tis the Season! Are you all ready for Christmas?

I've been a bad bad blogger. I've tried, I really have.....I get a holiday pass right?

I've made my attempts to catch up but with the holidays it's been hard, so I get a holiday pass, that's what I'm going to call it you know between my son having surgery, there's catch up on Christmas shopping, cleaning, parties and baking! Don't even mention the Christmas cards, post office trips, wrapping presents, I'm still trying to get a few more out & done.....

How do you keep up with it all?

I've had some fun working with Phoenix Magazine again and in Feb 2012 they

are going to feature me in their magazine :) I'm excited, check this awesome magazine out HERE.

I've finished up my editing for 2011 and working on my new booking planning for 2012.

Keeping up with the clicks {camera clicks} ok ok I'm super tired, baby H is teething and has her first cold so I'm up every couple hours with her at night the lasr two nights, then up as early as 5am to start the day with the other two little ones. I feel I am so lucky with newborns that sleep when times like these when they DON'T, I feel like a zombie! Luckily it doesn't last long and I remind myself if I am this tired I know sweet baby girl is way more tired.

I sure haven't been good about blogging over the last few months! I get behind and think I'll catch up and then I think about catching up and then I'm too tired to think about it all. :) Tis the life of a mother :-)

Here's a few fun photo's......the weather has been beautiful and crisp out,

some day's only reaching low 70's. This time of year in Arizona is beautiful, I am looking forward to enjoying the holidays with my family. I'll be taking time off from shooting while my son has surgery and spend some much needed quality time with them

Thanks Papa for my camera! When I was in town we went to thrift stores downtown Hannibal. He was sweet and bought me a vintage camera for my collection. My favorite thing about it, is he bought it for me and where we bought it at :) Now I have a memory to place with it every time I look at it.

Getting creative for a small space downtown phoenix was super fun!

I do freelance work and this was a fun job I was hired on to do!

One of these will be in the November issue!

1930's house, love the vintage feel!

The owner Matt was very pleasant to work with in letting us come in and shoot

before the friday night crowd joined in!

Josh and Bailey were the perfect couple for this, they had to give the right look and feel

for the topic and they nailed it! Thanks J&B!

It was a very tight space with very little to work with, but a little creative thinking and fun we made it work! I'm excited to see how they use this in the issue to come!

Josh and Bailey are so much fun!

Congrats to them on their engagement!

I am super excited to be their photographer for their big day next spring!

We had a great time getting to know each other on their engagement session last week. They love to be outdoors, hang with friends and family, go to sporting events and they are also getting a new puppy and guess what I helped them in naming their new little one! They got a lab/weimaraner, so so cute you know the ones that looks like these:

I suggested they name him Harley and I found out today they did :)

So we had a new addition come to the family on Saturday. He is quite the character. No name yet for him....but we are thinking. We have put up signs, no owner yet, if you have seen my personal blog then you know, we think he came from the vacant home down the street.

Any name ideas? His personality is super playful (he chases and plays with kids just like our Buzz did, cuddly and curious!

Well I must say, Lori has a great love for photography and she has the talent to prove it as well.

She is so great to work with as a client and as my second shooter. I LOVE working with her. She is helpful, inspiring and fun. We get along so well and really have FUN when we work together. She is always up for a quick new idea and stop even if its right in the middle of no-where!

Against the Light, Frame Within a Frame, Best Part of My Day, Buttons and Ink

Against the Light: I had two I couldn't decide which one I wanted to use. I feel like the first one is deeper, like the clouds and sky are going against the light....like a race of time. Then the next one is just baby love, against the light.....allowing yet another session to be had.

Baby love is growing growing...holding her head up and rolling over and she's not yet

even 3 months young!

Best Part of My Day: Going and picking her up from all day kindergarten, her little brother gets excited to leave to go her and it makes for a fun trip out each day during our week.

Momma In Focus-A walk to the park

The other night we walked down the street to the park, it's only about five houses away which is so nice..... just H&G came with as the littlest one stayed home with daddy. It was fun to play with them, swing with them and walk home. G always grabs my hand and walks by my side, its like he's my little man protecting his mama already. H had a slight melt down, sad that her friend couldn't come out to play, we soon went home and hit the sack.

I'm am so happy to help and answer questions I get in my inbox. I don't always reply right away but I try...... I've started to post some questions so that I can link up with others who have the same interests, questions and curiosity, in hopes of helping maybe someone else out, I love sharing what I know, do and use....... so here's this week's Q&A:

"Hi! My name is Megan W. and I have discovered a love for photography. I truly enjoy your work and passion. I wanted develop my skills a little further, so I was hoping you might be able to assist me by answering a few questions.

What's a good camera to start out with? Or what camera do you prefer to use. I want to photograph my family and decrease the cost of going to a professional, unfortunately you're too far away from us

What's your favorite len(s)?

What's a good program to use when editing?

I hope you can give me a little direction and how to better my photographs.

#1-and some..... What's a good camera to start out with?:

I believe reading and researching is very important in finding out what type of camera you want to start with. I never want to direct someone into a camera they won't love or understand. I suggest www.kenrockwell.com for great reviews on all kinds of cameras and lenses. (no he isn't a paid sponsor) As well as various places on the web and youtube.com even to explore what DSLR camera is best for you. Each person is different and each photographer has a different outlook & style. Find out what style you are wanting to create and know its okay to change it up several times till you get what you want..... look for what your main purpose is for shooting then compare your cameras & lenses till you find a good match. It's kinda like a relationship....yes it's a lot like a relationship :) I currently use Nikon D300s and I LOVE it. I am always learning something new. I am a firm believer in learning with what you have in hand, inside out before jumping into the deep end and buying top notch. For example someone, anyone can buy the top of the line most expensive camera & lenses and then automatically think they are a photographer because they paid for it, I on the other hand don't believe that. I truly believe anyone can have a passion, love or an eye for photography but you must do your research and really truly understand what you are buying and realize that at that point you are only at the beginning of your learning & growing.......it never ends. {I.M.O} It takes true talent to want to share it, experience it, fail at it, and work toward achieving your goals over and over thru each photograph, learning and growing with each click. Never give up. Never judge others work or style, always remain positive and willing to share ideas, join groups, clubs and find what it is you love photographing.

#2- What is my favorite lens?: I really LOVE my 50mm 1.4, also I used to have a 35mm 1.8 and loved that too and that can be a great affordable starter lens. It's very good for portraits.

#3 What's a good program to use for editing?: I use Lightroom (LR3) only. Very rare will I open my photoshop. I really try to become good enough that all I have to do to each photo is a tiny bit of enhancements. I try to shoot as best as I can SOOC (straight out of camera) so there's very little work to be done. Depending on the look I'm going for later (Black & White, Vintage, Bright, Crisp & Vibrant) will depend on what I will do to each photo. I rarely will batch photo's as I like to look at each photo as an individual piece of art.

A New Day

A new day. Laundry is piled, my little G woke up @ 1 & 2 am to a tummy ache followed by a mess, which then turned into a late night load of laundry. Today we traveled out to get more uniforms, a backpack and water bottle for H's first day of Kindergarten, which is right around the corner! {Monday} eeek! Kids are all sleeping but one, she plays her games on PBSKIDS.org, while I decide to finally close the books, emails and mountain of photo's I could be editing to tend to my family life....I wish I could just crawl right into bed next to little H who is sweetly sleeping in the middle of our bed, fast asleep with her little bum in the air, oh my favorite.

Another day, a new day....here's hoping something gets done...all of the way :)

{Broken Trees} Surprise, Arizona-Childrens Portrait Photographer

Broken tree's awww.....a photographers best friend on a good day!

New locations are like candy to me, and this one is my NEW favorite. I'll be here often, because there's so much personality to the place this is just a peak at what's to come, there's SO much more!! We even met a sweet two day old baby calf! It was so sweet, they all just walked right up to us, about two feet away stood this herd of sweet mama's and babies! Speaking of babies, these girls have known each other for their entire lives ( the whole 5 and 6 years of it) :) We don't live super close to each other but we do make the effort to visit, have play date and see each other at least once a month! The best part is I'm best friends with her mama, and yes at 30yrs old {IMO} you can still have best friends outside your spouse. Some one you can be around anytime, trust, laugh, be mad at and grow apart and together several different times through out a course of almost 10 years of friendship! It's amazing and I hope that our little girls get to grow up together loving, sharing and experiencing the same thing. I love these two, they are growing up way to fast!!

Summer time is almost over?! Well at least for one little girl and I, maybe not the HEAT, booo.

Where has the time gone? Hannah will start school {KINDERGARTEN} in 3 1/2 weeks! YIKES!

What will I do all day with out her? Who will be my great little model for new locations, props or ideas? Oh how sad. She is growing up all to fast. She was the reason I ever picked up my camera and really dreamed about doing and going forward with what I'm always wanted to do. She was how I found my passion as a mother & photographer, enjoying best of both worlds. Each one of my children have had a piece of that joy and to watch them spread their wings and grow is so exciting, yet makes me feel OLD. Thankfully we have photos that hold timeless emotion and memories. Speaking of photo's, I am currently booked for October, November and December 2011. :) August & September have a few openings! I'm not booking nearly as much as I did last Fall as I'm limiting the amount of sessions I take on each month, I just don't have as many minutes in a day as I did before baby love #3 arrived, amazing how much time is sucked up by those little ones, "literally". I'm SO not busy with work, I'm as busy as I want to be right now and all is well, and being LESS busy has been a nice change this summer. I've had time to start training for a {CRAZY HARD} marathon with my hubby and we're doing p90x, {SORE MUSCLES OuCh} so my eyelids just can't make it past 10pm most nights, does that sound familiar to anyone? It's been so nice to SLOW down the work flow while on maternity leave, although I've still been shooting while on "maternity leave" does it really count as "leave" probably not? Can you keep a fat kid away from cake? Well I'm just saying, I love it, I love what I do, that's all. It's the smallest word ever but I've learned I've had to say NO to other opportunities, so I can enjoy & focus on getting at least 4-5 hours of solid SLEEP, yet still have time to play with my family and kids. OH and there may be ONE project in the works, something totally NEW and exciting but I am awaiting "selection"! I entered a contest & I'm in the top ten for this NEW opportunity, but we shall see if it's meant to be! If I get picked for IT I'll let ya know!!! It's totally different and would be very fun!! Till then shine on.....find the joy & light in your day and enjoy it, I'll promise to do the same.

She's as sweet as sweet can be....love having her in our family. Times are good and she is sleeping from 10pm till 5:30am, I'll take it! :) Seems my little ones at 4wks always sleep through the night, it's getting them all to go to bed at the same time at night that is a work in progress!

So life with three, has been lovely. It's a major adjustment and I'm in survival mode right now on "how to's" but really loving it. I feel content and yet I find myself forgetting constantly,

very sleepy and turning in circles.

I am happy when I can shower and brush my teeth all in one hour those are highlights of my days......but I wouldn't change it. I've been told grocery shopping late at night works best for most moms with multiple little ones, although now that I am up 2 times a night with baby and starting my days at either at 430am or 530am, it makes it hard to stay awake till 10pm & WANT to go to the store that late.....so ya...I keep putting it off. Luck was on my side today and hubby surprised me and left work early today. :) It was like an early Christmas present, I LOVE when he gets home early, he not only helps me out with taking over for dinner but yay for grocery shopping before 5pm!

I sometimes sit and wonder how women in the "old days" with no help from Elmo, DS games or sidewalk chalk entertained there little ones while nursing.......

We are in love with this little blue eyed bean....

Oh the joys this boy brings to me, oh the tiredness he brings as well.

I just can't keep up with him in this last week of pregnancy.

He has learned to climb up on his window ledge in his room, pull his curtains down and jump off the ledge on to his toddler mattress which he pulls off his bed. It's time for a twin bed, something he can't MOVE! He has taken off one side of the door knob also!

Awesome.

By the time I can get up the stairs to stop, warn or discipline him he is

laughing and smiling and jumping about.....ugh.....lovely!

Boys....will be boys! It wouldn't be so bad if I had my body and energy to keep up! :)

The lighting located here in the house in the morning is so pretty.
My hubby even noticed it one morning while off from work how it's "glowing"
I told him I had taken a few shots of it and how this and another spot in the house has some of the best lighting! I love when you spot good lighting and it inspires for a new shot & thought.

We now have a membership to our local Wildlife Zoo and loving it! It's one mile from our house and keeps the children entertained for a few hours! It also make for a great place to walk, walk walk {you know in hopes to get this baby moving down down down} :) We are off for another morning today with Daddy! I was in full force yesterday! Two pieces of furniture sanded, primed and painted! Cleaned and detailed my car inside out and got the baby car seat all set-up and cleaned. I caved and found a CUTE & fashionable diaper bag finally and did a bit of grocery shopping, all with kids in tow and at my feet...... today I'll take a nap for sure :)

I finally packed a bag, kinda.....what the heck do I bring again?

I got a new backdrop today in the mail and OOOOooooooOOO I can't wait to use it!

Ok, I keep thinking I'm going to get a moment to catch up. Then I realize I have some "free" time aka kid free moments and then I'm to tired to log in or even look at my computer! Ugh.....just like the first trimester all over again blah! I plan to catch up on here, update and look for a new look for the blog! I've been wanting to do this for sometime but well ya.......I've done my 365......but have slacked on posting them!! Yikes! So.....here goes nothing....I have a cute little newborn session today then as the cool air and rain come rolling in this weekend I'll be "catching up" on my blog and yours (as long as I don't take a nap first)! :)
